Pre-College High School Application Summer 2023

Welcome to our electronic application for Duke Pre-College for 2023.

Current 9th - 11th grade students are eligible to apply. If you will be 18 years of age at the time of the program (June 20 - July 29), your application will not be accepted. Please consider applying to Duke Summer Session. 

The application deadline for this application is May 1, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. 

Before applying, please review the following information:

• Students participating in residential and in-person programs will be required to share proof of COVID vaccination once accepted. Please review Duke Pre-College Policies for more information.

Your complete application will include:

• A one-page personal statement stating why you are uniquely qualified for and interested in the course for which you are applying.
• A resume highlighting your academic and non-academic experiences.
• A high school transcript showing your name, current grade and school's name and address (an unofficial transcript is acceptable).

Applications are reviewed once they are complete. Applicants will receive an admissions decision via email February 15, 2023. You may also check application status from this portal.

Payment & Refund Policies

Early Admission:

Apply by February 1, 2023. Admission letters sent February 15, 2023. Full program fees due March 15, 2023.

*Full program fees received by March 1, 2023, will receive a 10% discount.

Regular Admission:

Apply by April 1, 2023. Admission letters sent April 14, 2023. Full program fee due May 5, 2023.

Late Admission:

Applications received after April 1, 2023, will be considered for any courses still open. Admission letters sent April 21, 2023. Full program fees due May 5, 2023.

Program Application Fee

There is a non-refundable $150 fee due upon application. (If you enroll in two courses, there will be a $150 discount applied to your program fee.)

Program Fee

A deposit of $150 per course is due two weeks after acceptance to the program. Your place in the course is NOT guaranteed until all program fees are paid according to the dates outlined above. If the payment deadline passes and any fees are outstanding, students will be automatically dropped from the course.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made 30 days prior to the start date of the course will result in a full refund of monies paid less the $150 non-refundable application fee. Refunds are not available if the cancellation is made within 30 days of the course start date. Please initiate any cancellation by contacting precollege@duke.edu.

Financial Aid

The deadline for financial aid is April 15, 2023.
