Welcome to our application for Duke Pre-College 2024.

Current 9th through 11th grade students are eligible to apply to the high school residential/commuter program via this application. If you will be 18 years of age (DOB PRIOR TO 6/15/2006) at the time of the program starting June 16, 2024, you do not qualify to apply to Pre-College, but please consider applying to Duke Summer Session at https://summersession.duke.edu/credit-course-options

A complete application will include:

  • A high school transcript or other document showing grades or full marks from 2022/2023 school year AND one including grades or marks thus far for the 2023/2024 school year. Please combine all transcripts and grade reports into one document. All unofficial transcripts must include your name and current grade as well as your school's name and address. Screenshots will NOT be accepted.
  • A 250-500 word written essay or a 1 – 2 minute video essay on ONE of the following questions:
    • Why attending Duke Pre-College can help me become a better student leader.
    • What experience or knowledge I hope to gain by attending Duke Pre-College.
  • Resumes are optional

Additionally, International Applicants must submit:

  • A TOEFL score of at least 90 or above OR an IELTS score of 7.0 or above·     

Duke EIS services CAN provide an English Interview and Evaluation for those without IELTS or TOELF scores. Please contact precollege@duke.edu for a link to register for that evaluation. After registering and paying a $100 fee, you will be contacted with an interview appointment.

Application Decisions

Applications are reviewed once they are complete and in the order they are submitted. Due to our high volume of applications, please allow at least 3 weeks for review of your application.
