IN PERSON: Did you know that Triangle continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) have waitlists that span from four to 15 years? With the influx of retired people into the Triangle, the demand for CCRC spots has grown, leading to long wait times. Likewise, competition to hire competent in-home care for those who choose to age in place is fierce. Through expert speakers and class lectures, we will explore options for continued independence as aging progresses and life-care needs change. We'll consider the suitability of your home and your community for aging in place, and various options for home care services. Finally, we'll visit several CCRCs to learn about the services they provide, their contract models, their entrance and monthly fees, and the nature of their waiting lists. Our focus will be on aging in place and retirement communities. | Lecture + Q&A.
Max enrollment: 25.

Joining the lottery is free, and you can participate in three simple steps:
If you are not drawn during the initial lotteries, you will remain on the waitlist. If a registered spot opens up later in the term, it will be offered to the next member on the list. You can easily manage your waitlist status at any time in your student portal under "My Enrollment History".
