Course Description

ONLINE: This set of lectures examines the history of France from the end of the Napoleonic Wars to 1914, with special emphasis on the fraught politics and cultural effervescence that so defined 19th-century France. Topics will include the Revolutions of 1848, the Franco-Prussian War and the Dreyfus affair, with detailed profiles of figures such as Emperor Napoleon III and Otto von Bismarck.
