ONLINE: For 200 years, the grand project of liberal internationalism has been to build a world order conducive to progressive ideas and the rule of law. Today, this project is threatened from the outside by illiberal challengers like China and Russia as well as from the inside by nationalist-populist movements. This discussion-based course will analyze and evaluate the elusive concept of liberal internationalism, contrast it to political realism, trace its development and assess current threats to its survival. Students will be expected to read approximately 30 rather challenging pages each week and actively participate in class discussions. | Facilitated discussion.
