Course Description

What are the physiological and psychological impacts of space travel? What infrastructure is required to sustain life on Mars? What are the ethical considerations for selecting a diverse crew to voyage to the Red Planet? Step into the shoes of scientists, engineers, and space explorers as they delve into the challenges of traveling to and living on Mars! This engaging, hands-on course combines STEAM principles with creative problem-solving, tasking you and your peers with designing an immersive escape room that reflects the complexities of a human mission to Mars.

Work in teams to create puzzles and scenarios that incorporate real-world challenges—such as resource allocation, health emergencies, and communication delays—while fostering an understanding of equity and inclusion in space exploration. Develop a dynamic and educational escape room while also gaining a deeper appreciation for the innovation, collaboration, and diversity required to make space exploration a success. Think critically and creatively as you explore humanity’s bold journey to Mars!
