Course Description

Are you a fan of shark week or the movie, Jaws? Do you find sharks fascinating or even awe-inspiring because of the might of the Great White and mystery of Greenland sharks? Despite what you might see and hear in the movies, sharks are much more than a dangerous fish such as Jaws!

Learn the ins-and-outs of sharks as you live and learn at the Duke Marine Lab. Explore the world of sharks: from their morphology to their habitats and behaviors. Through interactive approaches – tracking movements of a wild shark and dissections – you will get a chance to put your scientific knowledge to use! Research one of over 500 species of sharks, become an expert on their lifestyle, and present this unique species to your peers. Sharks are valuable to our ecosystems. Discover an appreciation for their ways of life and become an advocate for their conservation.
