Course Description

How many different living organisms are there in the ocean? How are such organisms impacted by their surrounding environment? Do marine ecosystems benefit society? Explore these questions scientifically as well as visually.

Sharpen your drawing skills by creating wildlife sketches of marine plants and animals in their natural environment. Create a portfolio of organisms as you and your peers research and discuss characteristics, taxonomy, and adaptations of these organisms. Use collage to discover how geographic location and environmental factors can affect marine life.

The course will culminate in your creation of an original piece of marine artwork using multiple mediums and techniques such as collage, printmaking, drawing, and painting. Highlight important environmental issues that affect marine life and join a tradition of advocacy through the arts!
