Course Description

The OLLI Contemporary Literature Group meets monthly via Zoom for a one-hour discussion of a recent fiction or non-fiction title. It is currently halfway through its 2026-27. Towards the end of each year, members are asked to nominate books that they have enjoyed for the group's consideration during the following year. Some favorites from this year's list so far have been Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout and Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy. Discussion of the books is led by a rotating list of volunteers. Usually the person who nominated the month's book also starts the meeting off with a short introduction to the author and prepares some questions to keep the discussion flowing. This year the group has begun scheduling occasional "pop-up" meetings, usually in the same time slot as the monthly meeting so members can check in and talk about books they are currently reading or other literature-related news.
