From its iconic buildings like the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral to its figures such as Chaucer and Queen Elizabeth I to its landmarks along the River Thames, London has long been a focal point of historical events and cultural achievements. This lecture-based course delves into London’s evolution, including the vital contributions made by immigrants from across the globe and its enduring challenges of poverty and crime. Through these topics, students will gain a deeper appreciation for London’s role in shaping history, culture and society.
