ONLINE: Curious about your family’s history, but unsure where to start? This interactive course is designed for both beginners and those with some experience in family history research. Whether they have a little background or none at all, participants will gain the skills needed to uncover fascinating stories about their ancestors. Through engaging lectures and hands-on activities, students will learn where to find essential records and how to interpret the clues they offer. We will explore research tools, techniques and vocabulary that will empower students to navigate genealogical data with confidence. Plus, students will develop practical skills, such as how to conduct oral history interviews, locate public records, read old newspapers, preserve archival documents and leverage online resources to enhance their discoveries.
