IN PERSON: In this hands-on course, we will proceed step-by-step to create a watercolor illustration of a songbird using local photographs. Students will learn the basics of watercolor illustration in this manner: We will begin by rendering the bird and its environment in pencil. Then, with color combinations using just six primary colors (cool and warm), we will learn methods for applying the colors to the bird and its surroundings. Finally, we will look at a variety of brush techniques for details and finishing touches. During the 10 weeks of the course, participants will be able to try out several different birds, with the number depending on each individual’s rate of progress.
