Course Description

Experience Second Nature: Photography in the Age of the Anthropocene on a special VIP tour led by Ruth Caccavale, OLLI instructor and Gallery Guide Manager & Museum Educator at the Nasher Museum. This opportunity will offer you an in-depth exploration of contemporary photography’s role in capturing and interpreting the Anthropocene—the idea that human activity is now the dominant influence on the planet. Ruth will guide you through the exhibition, featuring forty-five artists showcasing thought-provoking imagery that spans toxic industrial sites, climate-driven landscapes, and urban sprawl. You’ll gain insight into how these artists visually narrate pressing issues like climate migration, resource extraction, and the enduring impact of colonial histories. Don’t miss this chance to dive deeper into the complexities of humanity’s imprint on Earth, curated through powerful photographic storytelling. Note: Parking at the Nasher is at your own expense. The Nasher Cafe is an option for lunch after the tour.
