Course Description

IN PERSON: This six-week course provides a comprehensive introduction to American mah jong, taught in accordance with the official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and the current NMJL card. Students will learn the fundamentals of game setup, tile identification, reading the NMJL card, and the rules governing play, scoring, and etiquette. Instruction will combine guided explanations, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in a supportive, interactive environment. By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently play American Mah Jongg, understand game strategy, follow official rules, and participate in social or organized play with ease. Participants will need to bring the 2026 National Mah Jongg League card to class. The cards are $15 each. | Active Skill Learning.
