IN PERSON: This course begins with a self-assessment: Do you prefer individual or group travel? Is downtime important to you on a trip? Do you travel to eat? Once you understand what you need to have an enriching trip, you can make better decisions about how to travel. We will explore a number of issues related to different kinds of traveling, including different types of group travel, destination management companies (DMC), individual travel, and river and ocean cruising. As we mature, many of us choose group tours, where almost everything is managed for us. With a wide variety of tour operators to choose from, we will look at the pros and cons of some of the major operators. We will also learn how to read an itinerary to understand exactly what participants will see or visit. For example, if the itinerary states, "You will see the Cathedral of Notre-Dame," you will know that does not include an inside visit. This course offers an insider's perspective from an experienced travel professional. | Lecture + Q&A, Facilitated discussion.
