Course Description

IN PERSON: While many people consider 1939 to be Hollywood’s greatest year, outstanding films have been made in every era. This course explores six landmark years in American cinema, highlighting the movies that defined them and the creative forces behind them. Through film clips and guided discussion, we will examine notable works ranging from "The Bridge on the River Kwai" to "The Sixth Sense." Along the way, we’ll look at how these films were made, the actors and directors who shaped them, and the cultural moments that influenced their success. By the end of the course, participants will have gained a broader perspective on film history and discovered that great moviemaking extends far beyond a single celebrated year. | Lecture + Q&A.
