IN PERSON: As part of the 250th anniversary celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Nasher Museum of Art will exhibit three early copies of the historic document. We will study these rare documents and look at art made in the United States, considering what U.S. art says about who we aspire to be within the ongoing story of the country. Although we will start in Nasher's classroom for some of our class periods, we will spend most of our time in the galleries, sitting comfortably on stools. We will discuss American art made by diverse people for a variety of reasons, exploring it from many perspectives: the artists, the materials, the contexts, and the messages. | Facilitated discussion.
