Building upon the concepts from Social Enterprise 101, participants will evaluate the legal structures of Social Enterprises, franchising options and partnership opportunities. Since Social Enterprises are taxable entities generating unrestricted net assets, hybrid nonprofit models will be explored and attendees will investigate social enterprise trends. A discussion of the reporting requirements of social enterprises will also be included.
Participants will use case studies and interactive exercises to learn how to evaluate the best way to serve the comprehensive needs of their respective organizations. Through these discussions, attendees can determine the applicability of some social enterprise models.
This course counts as a Special Topic course for the Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
